Lightweight Vacuum Cleaners

For anyone who consistently has problems with vacuum cleaners being too heavy or hard to handle there are a growing number of options. As with most anything, there is a level of effectiveness that you lose with some of the lighter machines, though some manufacturers have done a great job at finding new and innovative ways to pack peak performance and durability into a light and easy to use package. Generally speaking, most manufacturers post the weight of their machines minus the cord because you don't feel cords weight while vacuuming. All in all, anything 14 pounds or under shouldn't be too hard to maneuver, but naturally everyone is different. For example, we find that elderly people usually need something in the 7-10 pound range. One thing many people don't realize is that the vast majority of the weight you feel while vacuuming is a result of the ratio between your height and the length of the handle to the head of the machine. Through telescopic wands, most people find that adjusting the height of the vacuums handle to the most comfortable position for their size can eliminate most of the discomfort from the weight of the machine.
